LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Freshmen Eden Clark of Muhlenberg and Audrey March of Salisbury secured the latest Division III Wilson/NFCA Pitcher and Louisville Slugger/NFCA Player of the Week honors on Tuesday.
Clark started her stellar week for the (28-8) Mules with six one-hit innings at Ursinus, recording a freshman school-record 12 strikeouts, and closed with a five-inning no-hitter and nine strikeouts against McDaniel. In between, the Mill Valley, Calif., native shut out DeSales for her first collegiate complete game, allowing just three hits and fanning eight. Altogether, she went 3-0 over 16 innings with a 0.44 ERA, four hits, 29 strikeouts and a .077 opponent batting average for a team that has won 11 straight.
March, meanwhile, slugged 2.000 this past week for the (18-10) Sea Gulls, who have won 12 of their last 14 games, including four in a row. The designated player from Bel Air, Md., was 7-for-10 (.700) with a double, four home runs, two walks, five runs, no strikeouts and 11 RBI over four games. She homered twice in the first game of doubleheaders against both Stevenson and Mary Washington.
