LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Husson’s Ana Lang and UMass Dartmouth’s RaeLynn Perregaux earned the latest Division III Wilson/NFCA Pitcher and Louisville Slugger/NFCA Player of the Week honors, the Association announced on Tuesday.
Staff ace Lang won five of the No. 20 Eagles (29-4) six games and recorded her 500th career strikeout. The junior right-hander from Searsport, Maine, fanned 57 for the week and allowed just nine hits, five walks and two earned runs over 25 innings in the circle for a 0.56 ERA.
After six strikeouts over three innings in her first outing against Thomas, Lang fanned double figures in each of her other four appearances, including a season-best 17 in the first game of a twinbill versus SUNY Cobleskill. For the week, she tossed two one-hitters and a four-hitter.
Perregaux, meanwhile, hit .813 (13-for-16) with eight runs, four doubles, a triple, two home runs and 12 RBI for the (22-8) Corsairs. The Torrington, Conn., native blasted both homers in the same inning of the first game against Keene State last Tuesday, and went 8-for-8 in the doubleheader sweep.
Three days later, the senior third baseman collected five more hits, including two more extra-base hits versus Western Connecticut State. She did not strike out in 17 plate appearances for the week.
