LOUISVILLE, Ky. – After guiding Rock Valley College to its unprecedented fourth consecutive National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DIII National Championship, head coach Darin Monroe and his staff have been named NFCA NJCAA DIII National Coaching Staff of the Year, the Association announced Thursday afternoon.

Monroe is joined on his staff by assistant coach D.J. Johnson and student assistants, Anna Bartos, Dekoda Wallin and Kylee Johnson.

After cruising to a 20-0 victory over Suffolk County Community College in the NJCAA DIII title game, the Golden Eagles set a NJCAA DIII record with its four straight national championship. Recording a program-record 57 wins, RVC put forth a dominating performance in the National Tournament, outscoring its opponents 41-0 over the course of four games. In those four contests, only one opposing runner reached third base.

In their nine postseason games, the Golden Eagles (57-2) outscored their opponents 77-5 with seven shutouts. RVC closed out 2017 on a 40-game winning streak in which they amassed 400 runs and surrendered just 38. Monroe collected his four straight NJCAA DIII Coach of the Tournament accolade.
