Type: drill
Purpose: To practice executing the sacrifice bunt for offense and fielding the bunt on defense.
Explanation: Players form a bunting line at home and at second base. On defense, use one pitcher to pitch to home and one pitcher to pitch towards secondbase.The fielders are at second and at third. each player receives one pitch to bunt to the third base-side. The bunter must successfully bunt the pitch and then run to first. Failure to bunt successfully means the runner will continue running to right field. If successful, the runner will move to the next line. If the pitch is a ball, the runner will run to first and move to the next line.The defense must successfully field the ball and get the out at first.
variation: You may substitute defenders in any way you would like. First and second, pitcher and second, etc.
