Purpose: Infield defensive fundamentals

Explanation: Players are divided into groups of five. There is a fungo hitter A and a catcher A on one side of the infield and a fungo hitter B and catcher B on the other side of the infield with a fielder in the middle. The fielder receives a hit from fungo hitter A (this can be a ground ball or aerial ball at or to the side of the fielder); the player in the middle fields the ball, sets her feet quickly and makes a return throw to catcher A. The player then turns immediately to receive a hit from fungo hitter B, which she fields and returns to catcher B. The fielder will get 10 balls, five from each direction and then the players rotate so that all will be catchers, hitters and field- ers. Variation for second time through would be to have the fielder receive the hit from hitter A , then quickly turn, find her target and throw to catcher B. She then receives the hit from B , turns and throws to catcher A.
