Batter hits the ball to any infielder, for instance, hit to first base. First base throws to second base, who is covering first. The shortstop covers second base, and the third baseman covers third.

Explanation:
Batter hits the ball to any infielder, for instance, hit to first base. First base throws to second base, who is covering first. The shortstop covers second base, and the third baseman covers third.

The second version of the drill varies just a little bit.

The first baseman is out of play. The ball is thrown around the bases as the batter runs the bases. The ball goes from first base, to second base, to third base. The third baseman then throws back to first who throws to second, who throws to third and then third throws home. The runner is trying to beat the throw to the plate.
