Purpose:
To ensure that the infield and outfield have the opportunity to field a good number of balls at each practice

Explanation:
We do this drill at the beginning of every practice. We divide our infield into two groups, one between second and third and the other between first and second. A coach hits balls from between first and home to one group and another coach hits grounders from between home and third. The players switch lines after each catch and they must be in proper form prior to the ball being hit. The outfield goes to an outfield area where a coach is hitting fly balls, usually with two groups separated and hitting the ball between them so they are calling each other off and backing up the person catching the ball.
