Type: dril

Purpose:

This drill works on the specific techniques of catching fly balls hit in the sun.

Explanation:

Set up players facing the sun. Step 1 – have players hold their gloves to where they are catching the sun, and the shade of the glove covers the fielder's face. do this dry (without a ball) several times. Step 2 – do the same, but add a tossed ball into the sun. Players must block the sun in order to see and put them- selves in position to catch the fly. The coach and/or player who tosses the ball should stand approximately six to 10 feet away from the fielder.
