Arizona received 26 of 30 first-place votes to maintain its hold on the No. 1 position in the USA Today/NFCA Division I Top 25 Softball Poll, the association announced Wednesday.
The Wildcats, with a 23-1 record on the year, stayed in the top spot for the fourth straight week. While UA held steady at No. 1, the remainder of the top 25 shifted this week.
Tennessee received four first-place nods this week and jumped a spot to No. 2 with a 21-0 mark. UCLA, at 25-1 on the year, moved up from fourth to third, while Texas, who dropped a tough decision to Texas State during the week, dropped two spots to fourth.
The rest of the top 10 remained identical to last week’s poll. Stanford remained at No. 5 with a 22-4 mark, while Alabama used a solid conference start to hold on to No. 6. California remained in the seventh spot, and Oregon State stayed in eighth. Michigan and Louisiana-Lafayette rounded out the top 10 at ninth and 10th, respectively.
Arizona State held on to No. 11 with a 26-1 mark, while SEC foes LSU and Georgia switched places. The Tigers used an SEC sweep to move up to No. 12, while Georgia fell to 13th after taking two of three from Arkansas in its conference opener.
Oklahoma held on to No. 14, and Washington moved up two places to 15th. Nebraska dropped one place to No. 16, occupying the spot Northwestern held last week before dropping to 17th this week.
Auburn, Baylor and Texas A&M rounded out the top 20. Louisville stayed at No. 21, while Mississippi State moved up one place to 22nd.
DePaul fell one spot to No. 23, while Fresno State jumped back into the poll at No. 24. North Carolina rounded out the poll, staying in the No. 25 spot.
