Michigan's school record win streak was halted at 32 games, but the Wolverines managed to begin the Big Ten season 3-1 and remain No. 1 in the latest USA Today/NFCA Top 25, released Wednesday by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. 

Michigan was upended by No. 24 Iowa, 5-2, in the conference opener for both teams. The Maize and Blue managed to take the second game, 3-1, then swept two games from Illinois to improve to 35-2 on the season. 

Arizona remains second. The Wildcats defeated Stanford and split a pair of games with No. 3 California to open league play in the Pac-10. The Bears won their conference opener, 4-2 over Arizona State. 

Tennessee improved to 41-5, remaining fourth in the poll. The Lady Vols are followed by a trio of Big 12 teams. Texas remained fifth, while Oklahoma and Texas A&M each jumped two spots to No. 6 and No. 7, respectively. 

Stanford dropped two spots to eighth after falling in three of its five contests with ranked teams last week. The Cardinal are followed Baylor, Alabama and Georgia, which each moved up one spot in the tabbing. 

UCLA dropped five spots to No. 12. The Bruins end a streak of 82 consecutive weeks of being ranked in the nation's top ten. The streak dates back to the end of the 1998 season. 

Oregon State's undefeated league start moved the Beavers up three spots to No. 13. OSU is followed by Louisiana-Lafayette, Missouri, Florida and Arizona State. 

Northwestern opened league play with a 4-0 record. The Wildcats moved up two spots to No. 18 and are followed by Fresno State and Washington to round out the top 20. The last five ranked teams are Georgia Tech, Auburn, Creighton, Iowa and Oregon.
