USA Today/NFCA Division I Top 25 Poll
Texas received all but one first place vote to solidify its No. 1 position in the USA Today/NFCA Division I Top 25 Softball Poll.
The Longhorns moved its win streak to 10 games last week with a perfect 3-0 mark in Big 12 action. UCLA got a pair of wins over Pac-10 foes California and Stanford to hold on to the No. 2 position at 30-3 overall.
The Bruins are one of six Pac-10 teams in the top 10, as Arizona dropped one place to No. 4, while Oregon State moved up one place to sixth. California, Arizona State and Stanford follow at Nos. 6, 7, and 8, respectively.
Alabama continued its move up the poll, advancing another place this week to third. The Crimson Tide leads a group of three SEC squads in the top 10. Tennessee held on at No. 5 this week, while Georgia maintained its spot in the top 10 at No. 10.
Fellow SEC foe LSU sits just outside the top 10 at No. 11, while Michigan stayed at No. 12 with a 20-9 overall mark. Louisiana-Lafayette stayed at No. 13, while Washington also maintained its position at No. 14.
Northwestern and Texas A&M switched positions this week, with the Wildcats moving to 15th, while the Aggies dropped one place to 16th. Big 12 opponent Nebraska used its two-game sweep of Oklahoma to advance two places to No. 17. The Sooners dropped four places to No. 21, preceded in the rankings by No. 20 Baylor.
Louisville and Auburn sit between the four Big 12 squads. The Cardinals progressed two spots in this week’s rankings to No. 18, while Auburn dropped one place to 19th.
North Carolina moved up one place to No. 22 and Fresno State advanced to No. 23 after Mississippi State dropped thee games to Florida over the weekend to fall to No. 25. The Gators’ sweep of the Bulldogs combined with a series win over Auburn put UF back in the poll at No. 24.
