USA Today/NFCA Division I Top 25 Poll
The UCLA Bruins moved back into the No. 1 spot in the USA Today/NFCA Division I Top 25 Softball Poll following a two-week stay at No. 2, the association announced Wednesday.
The Bruins received 23 first-place votes to re-gain the top spot solidly ahead of Texas, who dropped to second with five first-place nods after dropping a 4-2 decision to Texas A&M during the week. UCLA’s move back to the top marked the fifth time this season that the No. 1 position has changed hands. Alabama received its first two No. 1 nods of the season as it stayed in the No. 3 spot.
Arizona remained at No. 4 this week, while California used a sweep of Oregon State, who fell to No. 8, to move two places to a season-best fifth. Tennessee dropped one place to sixth, while Stanford moved up two spots to No. 7.
Georgia bettered its top 10 position one spot this week, moving to ninth as Arizona State dropped two places to No. 10.
Positions 11-14 remained unchanged from last week, with LSU at No. 11 followed by Michigan, Louisiana-Lafayette and Washington. Texas A&M’s victory over Texas helped the Aggies move up to No. 15, while fellow Big 12 member Nebraska advanced one place to No. 16.
Northwestern dropped two places to No. 17, while Louisville held steady at No. 18. Baylor moved up to 19th, and Auburn fell one spot to No. 20.
Oklahoma, North Carolina, Florida and Fresno State occupied Nos. 21-24, respectively, while Missouri State earned its first national ranking, coming in at No. 25.
