USA Today/NFCA Division I Top 25 Poll
Three teams remain unbeaten in Division I softball, and they set atop the latest release of the USA Today/NFCA Division I Top 25.
Top-ranked UCLA is 13-0 after a 4-0 weekend at the Palm Springs Classic. The Bruins received 21 of the possible 24 first place votes. Arizona remains No. 2, but picked up two first-place votes. California remains third in the poll.
The Bears are among five of the top seven teams that will compete in this weekend’s NFCA Leadoff Classic in Columbus, Ga. Fourth-ranked Washington, No. 5 Oklahoma, No. 6 Georgia and seventh-ranked Michigan also headline the field of 24 teams.
Stanford moved up a spot to a seventh place tie while 2003 Women’s College World Series participants Alabama and Louisiana-Lafayette round out the top ten.
A pair of Leadoff Classic participants, Florida State and LSU, are ranked 11th and 12th, respectively. No. 14 Nebraska and No. 15 Texas are also competing in the ninth annual event.
Tennessee made the biggest jump in this week’s poll, up five spots to 13th. Fresno State remained 16th while Oregon and moved up three spots to No. 17. Arizona State, Iowa and South Carolina complete the top 20.
A pair of newcomers enter this week’s poll. Pacific, off to a 12-2 start that includes a win over Alabama is 21st while South Florida enters the poll at No. 22 after a 15-2 start. Texas A&M, Cal State Fullerton and Oregon State round out the poll.
DePaul, off to a 1-4 start, and Texas State, which dropped games to Colorado State and Illinois-Chicago, dropped out of the poll.
