NFCA Division II Top 25 Poll
Emporia State received all but one first-place vote to remain No. 1 in the NFCA Division II Top 25 Softball Poll for a second straight time, the association announced Wednesday.
Emporia is off to a 26-1 start, and is followed closely in the rankings by Florida Southern, who has jumped out to a 27-1 mark to begin the season. Humboldt State went 7-0 over the two-week span to advance in the top five to No. 3, while Southeastern Oklahoma State stayed at No. 4. Southern Illinois-Edwardsville moved into the top five at No. 5 with a 21-3 mark.
Lenoir-Rhyne and Cal State Bakersfield both moved into the top 10 this week. Both teams moved up five places this week, with Lenoir-Rhyne jumping to sixth and Bakersfield to seventh.
Previous No. 2 Cal Sate Dominguez Hills dropped six places to No. 8 after going 2-2 since the last poll. Barry also dropped in the poll this week, falling one place to ninth after making its debut in the rankings a week ago. Like Barry, Lock Haven dropped one place but managed to hang in the top 10 in the 10th spot.
Midwestern State narrowly missed a spot in the top 10, coming in at No. 11 after jumping three places. USC Upstate fell five places to No. 12, while Georgia College & State and Nebraska-Omaha both moved into the rankings at Nos. 13 and 14, respectively.
Incarnate Word landed at No. 15, an upward move of two places. Northern Kentucky, hanging in the poll at No. 25 two weeks ago, used an 11-game win streak to vault up to the 16th position.
Valdosta State moved into the rankings at No. 18 with a 20-6 mark, while Le Moyne jumped four places to No. 19. Shippensburg and Winona State each moved up to tie for the No. 20 position.
Alabama-Huntsville, Bloomsburg, Florida Gulf Coast and Concordia-St. Paul rounded out the top 25.
