Lock Haven claimed seven of eight first-place votes to top the NFCA Division II Top 25 Poll
for the sixth consecutive week, the association announced Wednesday.
The Lady Eagles, the defending NCAA Division II national champion, improved to 24-1 on the year with a 6-0 week wile running their win streak to 22 games.
Columbus State claimed the other first-place vote to remain in the No. 2 position. CSU, who ran its win streak to 23 games, went 4-0 in region play this past week to advance to 38-2 overall on the year.
Humboldt State, who won the Tournament of Champions this past weekend to move to 36-4 on the year, stayed at No. 3, while Angelo State remained in the No. 4 position again this week.
A week after jumping eight places into a tie for the fifth spot, Valdosta State claimed the position outright after Southern Illinois-Edwardsville dropped three games to fall to No. 13. Another Great Lakes region team did move into the top 10, as Lewis jumped eight places to No. 7 behind a 21-4 start on the year that includes 20 consecutive victories.
Emporia State moved up one place to sixth this week after a 2-0 week moved the Lady Hornets to 29-7 overall. Florida Gulf Coast stayed at No. 8 this week, while Cal State Stanislaus used a second-place finish at the Tournament of Champions to jump four places into a tie with FGCU for the eighth slot.
USC Upstate went 4-0 in South Atlantic region play to move to 34-8 on the year and leap seven places to No. 10 this week.
Northeastern State slipped one spot to 11th this week, while Caldwell jumped two places to No. 12. Following SIUE at No. 13, Hawaii-Hilo fell three places into a tie for 14th with a Florida Southern squad that jumped three places after a 2-1 week moved the Moccasins to 32-9 on the season.
Lenoir-Rhyne dropped seven places to No. 16 this week after a 2-2 week, while Bloomsburg moved up one place to No. 17. Nebraska-Omaha, St. Edward’s and LIU-C.W. Post round out the top 20 after all three progressed in the poll from last week.
Francis-Marion moved up two places to 21st, while Barry made a three-spot jump to No. 22. Newcomers Hawaii Pacific and Minnesota State, Mankato land in the rankings at Nos. 23 and 24, respectively, while Alabama-Huntsville dropped to No. 25 following a 2-4 week.
