Linfield is the newest No. 1 in the NFCA Division III Top 25 Poll
, the association announced Wednesday. The Wildcats are the fourth team to hold the No. 1 ranking this season, taking over from Louisiana College, who held the spot for just one week. The switch at the top is again indicative of a wild week in the overall poll, including three teams picking up votes for the No. 1 spot. No. 2 East Texas Baptist picked up one of those, while Louisiana College drops to No. 3 despite two first-place votes. Luther made a big move, jumping nine spots to No. 4, while IIAC rival Central rounds out the top five.
Other notable jumps include No. 13 Lynchburg, who rose nine spots from a week ago; however, more teams dropped significantly than rose. Texas-Tyler fell six more spots to No. 11 after a 3-1 week, while Wisconsin-Eau Claire and Christopher Newport both dropped seven spots to Nos. 14 and 15, respectively.
Coast Guard Academy and University of Redlands are both making their first appearance in the poll this season, at Nos. 22 and 24, respectively.
