NFCA Division III Top 25 Poll
After sharing the top spot a week ago, St. Thomas has regained sole possession of the No. 1 ranking in the NFCA Division III Top 25 Poll. The Tommies grabbed five first-place votes after an 8-0 week at the prestigious Sun West tournament in Orange, Calif.
Louisiana College dropped back into the No. 2 spot after a 1-1 week in which they split with East Texas Baptist; the Wildcats sit at 17-4 overall. Ithaca remains at No. 3, while Wisconsin Eau-Claire jumps five spots to No. 9. The Blugolds are 12-4 after starting 0-3; they narrowly missed a two-game sweep of St. Thomas after a triple play ended an eight inning game in a 3-2 victory for the Tommies.
Linfield rounds out the top five, with fellow West region contender Willamette dropping a spot to No. 6. Central jumps up a spot to No. 7 after an idle week, swapping spots with 11-3 Mount Union. Moravian moves to into the top 10 at No. 9, and Chapman drops four spots to No. 10.
Simpson continues to rise, as the 17-3 Storm just miss the top 10 at No. 11. Ramapo and Plattsburgh State both jump one spot to Nos. 12 and 13, respectively. Christopher Newport makes its first appearance in the poll at No. 14 after sweeping then No. 10 Greensboro and splitting with No. 15 Lynchburg.
Previously unranked Marietta appears at No. 16 after a 12-2 start, including a 6-0 victory over No. 21 Rhode Island College. Illinois Wesleyan drops six spots to No. 17, while Rochester, Emory and Muskingum round out the top 20.
University of Redlands and Methodist are back at Nos. 22 and 24, respectively, after a two-week absence, while 13-3 Whitworth drops four spots to No. 23. Previously unranked Wisconsin-Osh Kosh shares the final spot with 9-6 Augustana.
