LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Guiding Douglas College to a NWAC Tournament top seed and an undefeated conference regular season, head coach Michelle Peters and her staff have been named the 2017 NFCA NWAC National Coaching Staff of the Year. Under the direction of Peters and assistant coaches - Rob Warburton and Steve McBeth - the Roylas posted a 43-4 record and finished as the NWAC runner-up.
The squad clinched a playoff berth nearly halfway through their record-breaking season and posted the NWAC's first undefeated conference regular season in four years. As the No. 1 seed, the Royals knocked off Clarke, Centralia, Clackamas and Walla Walla to reach its second straight Championship series. The Royals did drop both games to Wenatchee Valley to finish as the league's runner-up.
