LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Duke’s Jessica Oakland and Arizona State’s Kenzie Brown were named Division I Louisville Slugger/NFCA Player and Wilson/NFCA Pitcher of the Week for contests played April 13-19.

Oakland had a monstrous week at the plate for the 14th-ranked Blue Devils. She batted .750 (12-for-16) with three doubles, four home runs, 14 RBI, seven runs scored and a 1.688 slugging percentage. Her first longball came on the first pitch she saw from Tennessee’s Karlyn Pickens, lifting Duke to a 6-3 win over the then-seventh ranked Lady Vols. Oakland capped off a convincing sweep of Boston College as she finished 8-for-8 with three home runs and nine RBI in the Saturday doubleheader.

Brown posted a 3-0 record with a 0.74 ERA and 35 strikeouts over 19 innings of work last week. She fanned 16 in a mid-week win at then-No.19 Grand Canyon, the most times the Lopes have struck out during their Division I era (14 years). Brown added two more complete-game victories over the weekend at Houston, including a one-hit shutout to clinch the series sweep. She also fanned 12 Cougars in the series opener. For the week, Brown posted a 0.89 WHIP and held her opponents to a .108 batting average.

The awards are voted on by the NFCA Division I Top 25 Poll Committee, which features one member coach from each of the NCAA’s 31 conferences.
