LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Washington’s (N.C.) Emma Orr, Socorro’s (Texas) Sophia Jimenez and Morenci’s (Ariz.) Alizabeth Aguilar were named MaxPreps / NFCA National High School Players of the Week for games played March 4-10.
Orr twirled a perfect perfect game striking out all 21 batters she faced against East Carteret. In her other start of the week, Orr tossed a two-hit shutout against Bear Grass Charter. She struck out 11 Bears and walked three. For the week, she fanned 32 and held her opposition to a .047 batting average.
Jimenez clubbed four home runs, recorded nine RBI and slugged 2.222 in three wins last week. The senior left the yard twice, doubled and finished 3-for-3 with three RBI and three runs scored versus Franklin. Jimenez added a homer in wins over Eastlake and Pebble Hills with four more RBI and three runs scored against the latter Spartans.
Aguilar batted .900 (9-for-10) with eight of her nine hits going for extra bases, including four home runs, slugged 2.600 and drove in 13 runs. She also tallied nine runs, three doubles and a triple, to go along with two walks and a .917 on-base percentage. Aguilar homered twice and recorded five RBI in a victory over Santa Rita. She was a single shy of the cycle versus Miami in which she doubled twice, registered five RBI and scored four times.
