LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Ludlowe’s (Conn.) Gina Solow, Casey-Westfield’s (Ill.) Tristan Ring, North Lincoln’s (N.C.) Clara Grace Dellinger, Kaufer’s (Texas) Skyler Ramos and Saint Francis’ (Calif.) Kate Munnerlyn were named MaxPreps / NFCA National High School Players of the Week for games played March 25-31.
Solow hit .500 (5-for-10) with three doubles, a triple, eight RBI and five runs scored in two victories last week. She tripled and scored twice against Westerly. Solow followed that performance by going 4-for-6 with all three doubles, six RBI and three runs scored against Narragansett (R.I.). She slugged 1.000 and did not strike out in 10 plate appearances.
Ring was a perfect 10-for-10 at the plate with a double, four home runs, 12 RBI and five runs scored. She slugged 2.300, walked once, did not strikeout and was 4-for-4 in stolen bases. Ring homered twice and drove in a season-best six runs against Flora. The junior also left the yard two times, going 4-for-4 with four RBI versus Cumberland. Ring added three more hits and two RBI against Parke Heritage.
Dellinger drove in 14 runs, scored nine times, slugged 2.500 and was a perfect 8-for-8 at the plate. She recorded a double, triple and three home runs, while also swiping six bases. Dellinger was a double short of the cycle with five RBI and five runs scored in a win over Hickory. She added a season-best six RBI with a double and home run versus Statesville. Against West Iredell, the senior homered with three RBI and three runs scored.
Ramos twirled a pair of complete game shutouts, fired a no-hitter and surrendered just one hit in two starts last week. The senior hurler struck out 30 batters and walked two over 13 innings of work. Ramos no-hit La Villa in a 4-0 win. She fanned 19 Cardinals, walking two and hitting a batter. In her first start of the week, Ramos twirled a one-hit, six-inning shutout versus Premont, fanning 11 and not issuing a free pass. She also helped herself at the plate, going 5-for-5 with a double, triple, home run and five RBI.
Munnerlyn tossed a pair of complete game shutouts in 2-0 wins over Roosevelt and Canyon and finished the week with 16 scoreless innings, allowing three base hits and three walks, while striking out 29 batters. Against Roosevelt, she fanned a season-high 17 and walked one in a two-hit shutout. She capped off the week with a one-hit blanking of Canyon in which she struck out 10 and issued two walks. In between those two appearances, Munnerlyn tossed two innings of hitless ball with two punchouts versus Mission Viejo.
