LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Leavitt’s (Maine) Sam Deblois, Lindblom’s (Ill.) Laylah Outlaw, Langley’s (Va.) Norah Jacques, Santa Fe Trail’s (Kan.) Kaelee Washington and Bend’s (Ore.) Addisen Fisher were named MaxPreps / NFCA National High School Players of the Week for games played April 29-May 5.
Deblois hit .778 (7-for-9) with three home runs, 10 RBI and nine runs scored in three victories for the Hornets last week. She homered twice, drove in four runs and scored three times versus Lake Region. Debloise also registered four RBI and three runs with three base knocks and two stolen bases against Gray-New Gloucester. The senior capped off her week with another long ball, three runs scored and two RBI in a triumph over Lincoln Academy.
Outlaw keyed Lindblom to a 4-2 week, going 15-for-16 (.938) at the plate with five home runs, two doubles, a triple, 16 RBI and 15 runs scored. The senior launched a season-best three round trippers and recorded a season-high seven RBI in a victory over Carver. Outlaw also homered and drove in four runs in wins against Perspectives Leadership/Technology. In the second matchup, she was 5-for-5 with a double and five runs scored. Outlaw also was a home run short of the cycle versus Chicago Washington.
Highlighted by a no-hitter, Jacques went 2-0 and did not surrender a base hit in two starts last week. She struck out 33 and issued just two walks in 12.1 innings of work. Jacques punched out a season-high 20 batters (two walks) as she no-hit George C. Marshall. The freshman hurler followed that with 5.1 innings of no-hit ball versus Herndon in which she struck out 13 and did not walk a batter.
In two starts, Washington twirled a pair of complete game shutouts, allowing just three hits and striking out 39 of the 46 batters she faced. She held Holton to one hit and recorded all 21 outs via strikeout. Against Anderson County, Washington fanned 18 more in a two-hit blanking of the Bulldogs.
Fisher posted a 3-0 record with a 0.00 ERA, allowing an unearned run on three hits with 44 strikeouts and two walks in 18.1 innings of work during a three-game sweep of Summit. The senior hurler fanned 18 and no-hit the storm over 6.1 innings in game one. Fisher tossed a five-inning no-hitter in the finale, striking out 12 and not issuing a walk. She also added a three-hit complete game win with 14 punchouts and two free passes.
