LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Advanced Math & Science Academy’s (Mass.) Ava McLeod, Allen Park’s (Mich.) Mak Sitarski and Rye Cove’s (Va.) Eden Muncy were named MaxPreps / NFCA National High School Players of the Week for games played June 3-9.

McLeod went 3-0 with a 0.37 ERA and 18 strikeouts over 19 innings of work. She posted a pair of shutouts against Rockland and Frontier Regional with eight and five punchouts respectively. McLeod also earned a complete-game win over Abington. At the plate, the sophomore was 5-for-10 with three doubles, a home run and seven RBI. McLeod homered and drove in three runs versus Rockland and added a pair doubles and two RBI against Frontier Regional.

Sitarski batted .917 (11-for-12) with a double, two long balls, six RBI and seven runs scored. She was a perfect 4-for-4 against Divine Child and Edsel Ford, launching both round trippers and driving in four runs versus Edsel Ford. Sitarski scored three times in that contest as well as in a victory over Woodhaven. 

Muncy keyed Rye Cove to the programs first Virginia High School League Class 1 state championship. The senior right-hander tossed three complete games, including a three-hit shutout with 12 strikeouts and one walk in the title-clinching victory over Eastside. In her quarterfinal and semifinal appearances, Muncy fanned 16 batters in wins over defending state champion Auburn and Rappahannock. Muncy sported a 0.33 ERA, scattered nine hits, allowed two runs, one earned and struck out 44 over 21 innings. She also added a double and RBI against Auburn.
