LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Calvary Baptist Academy added five more triumphs to continue as the No. 1 team in the NFCA Spring High School Top 25 Coaches Poll for a third straight week, the Association announced on Thursday.
The five-time reigning Louisiana state champion (21-0) Cavaliers have now won 27 straight games, including their four victories in the Division III Select tournament to close out 2025. Calvary blanked Bryant, 3-0, last Friday and defeated both Bentonville, 2-1, and West Monroe, 6-4, on Saturday, before rolling past North Caddo, 21-0, and Holy Savior Menard, 10-0, the past two days.
Calvary plays three games in the next three days, facing St. Mary later today, Jena on Friday, and Caddo Magnet on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Orange Beach (15-0) kept pace in the No. 2 spot, winning six games over the weekend at the Dothan Tournament, and another game on Tuesday. The Makos beat Kinston, Rehobeth and host Dothan twice each at that event, outscoring them by a combined 44-2 margin, and routed St. Michael Catholic, 15-0 after that. Orange Beach plays Spain Park next on Friday.
The only changes in the top 10 came at the end, with the final three teams gaining two spots apiece. Montverde Academy (8-1) went from 10th to eighth, while Desert Mountain (11-1-1) moved up to ninth and Doral Academy (7-1) rounded out that group.
Elsewhere, unbeaten Skyline (3-0) is the only newcomer to the rankings this week, slotting in at No. 14. Coahoma (13-2) dropped out after allowing 10 runs in a loss to Denver City on Tuesday.
State rankings submitted by the NFCA High School Steering Committee are used to compile the NFCA Spring High School Top 25 Coaches Poll. Teams are chosen based on performance, roster quality and strength of schedule.
