LOUISVILLE, Ky. — No. 1 Calvary Baptist Academy leads an unchanged top five into week four of the NFCA Spring High School Top 25 Coaches Poll, the Association announced on Thursday.
The five-time reigning Louisiana state champion (26-0) Cavaliers captured five more games to extend their win streak to 32 straight, and top the rankings for a fourth week. That successful run includes four victories in the Division III Select tournament to close out 2025.
Calvary yielded just two runs this past week — single runs in victories over Many (21-1 on Monday) and North DeSoto (13-1 on Tuesday). The Cavaliers outscored their other three opponents — St. Mary, Jena and Caddo Magnet — by a combined 28-0 margin.
Meanwhile, Orange Beach (19-0), Thompson (24-0-1), Murrieta Mesa (15-0) and Lake Creek (22-1) kept pace at positions 2-5. All but Thompson, which didn’t play, scored in double figures for at least one of their triumphs. The second-ranked Makos scored 12 of more runs in all four of their wins.
Undefeated Owyhee (10-0) moved up six places to sixth, after extending its home win streak to 44 games. The Storm allowed one run while scoring 57 over their first six games of the week, before registering a hard-fought 11-8 victory over Cole Valley Christian on Tuesday. Owyhee has now won 38 of its last 39 games, including going 28-1 in 2025.
Losses elsewhere in the Top 25 allowed six new teams to enter the mix, including unbeaten Vandebilt Catholic (18-0) at No. 9, Gray Collegiate (13-0) at No. 12 and Richland (3-0) at No. 13. One-loss Fullerton (11-1) at No. 14, two-loss Middleton (No. 18, 8-2) and yet-to-start LaSalle Academy (No. 23, 0-0) are the other three newcomers this week.
State rankings submitted by the NFCA High School Steering Committee are used to compile the NFCA Spring High School Top 25 Coaches Poll. Teams are chosen based on performance, roster quality and strength of schedule.
