LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Orange Beach reached 40 wins and remained No. 1 in the NFCA Spring High School Top 25 Coaches Poll for a fifth straight week, the Association announced on Thursday.
The five-time reigning state champion (40-1) Makos swept Satsuma convincingly — 15-0 and 16-1 in last Friday’s playoff series — and will face Opp next in Monday’s Alabama Class 4A South Regional.
The entire top 10 stayed the same, including No. 2 Calvary Baptist Academy, which beat Parkville Baptist 5-1 Sunday to claim to its sixth straight Louisiana state championship. The (37-1) Cavaliers have won the last four Division III Select titles, and captured the Division IV crown in 2021 and 2022.
Barrington (27-0) is the lone newcomer to the rankings this week, slotting in at No. 11. Meanwhile, No. 18 St. John Vianney (17-0) — one of eight other unbeaten teams — distinguished itself among that group by winning its last three games by a combined 48-0 margin.
Just three ranked teams lost this past week. Fullerton (24-3) and La Salle Academy (14-2) slipped to a tie for 25th, while Montverde (19-5) dropped out.
State rankings submitted by the NFCA High School Steering Committee are used to compile the NFCA Spring High School Top 25 Coaches Poll. Teams are chosen based on performance, roster quality and strength of schedule.
