LOUISVILLE, Ky. — East Coweta added four more victories to its ledger to remain the No. 1 team in the NFCA Summer/Fall High School Top 25 Coaches Poll for a second straight week.
The (20-0) Indians allowed just one run all week — in Wednesday’s 6-1 triumph over Northgate — while scoring 33 of their own. East Coweta won those four games by an average of eight runs.
No. 2 Pocola (16-0) and third-ranked NFCA Kaiti Williams Leadoff champion Gretna (19-0) kept winning to keep pace, as did all eight teams ranked after East Coweta in the poll. Undefeated newcomer Dewar (26-0), which defeated its six opponents this week by a 51-6 margin, rounds out a top 10 that features six squads with perfect records.
After that, things shuffled quite a bit, with 11 schools dropping at least one game over the past seven days. Two of those teams —Blue Springs South and Pueblo Central — lost four times, causing the Jaguars to fall from 12th to 25th, and the Wildcats to tumble out of the rankings entirely.
State rankings submitted by the 2024 NFCA High School Steering Committee are used to compile the NFCA Summer/Fall High School Top 25 Coaches Poll. Teams are chosen based on performance, roster quality and strength of schedule.
