LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Texas opened its campaign with six wins and is the No. 1 team in the first 2025 NFCA/GoRout Division Top 25 Coaches Poll of the regular season. The Longhorns (6-0) picked up nine more first-place votes (24) and collected 767 points with Florida (6-0) moving ahead of Oklahoma for the No. 2 position with six first-place votes and 730 points. The Sooners (6-0) nabbed the final first-place vote and totaled 727 points.

Texas opened its campaign with three shutout victories over Longwood, St. John’s and at then-RV Louisiana and St. John’s followed two more road triumphs against Lamar and Sam Houston, along with a neutral site triumph versus Tulsa. The Longhorns open up at home this upcoming weekend, hosting the Bevo Classic with Maryland, UMass and No. 11 Texas Tech.

The Gators and Sooners also opened up with six wins last week. UF opened with a home shutout of North Florida before taking all five matchups at the USF/Rawlings Invitational, outscoring its opposition 45-8 and registering two more shutouts versus Georgia Southern and the host Bulls. OU headed out to the West Coast and of those six wins, two were in extra innings at RV San Diego State (9 inn.) and at Long Beach State (11 inn.).

Five-win opening weekends, combined with Oklahoma State and Duke dropping two contests each, allowed for more change below the top three. UCLA (5-0) and Texas A&M (5-0) moved to No. 4 and No. 5. Bruin pitchers twirled four shutouts and allowed just two runs, while the Aggies scored 40 runs in five home wins.

No. 6 Tennessee stayed put after a 5-1 showing at the NFCA Division I Leadoff Classic presented by MaxBP. The Lady Vols rebounded from a season-opening loss to new-No. 18 Nebraska by outscoring their next five opponents, 50-7.

LSU hurlers matched UCLA with four shutouts, which included a perfect game, vaulting the Tigers (5-0) into the No. 7 ranking. Florida State moved up one spot to No. 8 splitting with now-No. 9 Oklahoma State and topping Northern Colorado and Louisiana Tech twice in Puerto Vallarta. In addition to their two games against FSU, the Cowgirls knocked off Northern Colorado, but fell to Louisiana Tech.

Georgia collected five wins to start the season and took over the No. 10 spot. Previously-mentioned Texas Tech also went 5-1 at the NFCA DI Leadoff Classic, which included wins over Nebraska and RV Penn State, while the 12th-ranked Blue Devils posted a 3-2 mark at the same tournament with wins over Penn State,  new-No. 19 Mississippi State and new-No. 23 Kentucky.

The Wildcats (4-1), through a run differential tiebreaker, won the Leadoff Classic and are the lone new team in the Top 25. Then-No. 25 Clemson fell out of the rankings after a 3-2 showing at FAU’s Paradise Classic.
