LOUISVILLE, Ky. – As Oklahoma maintained the top spot, Duke elevated to No. 2 in this week’s USA Today/NFCA Division I Top 25 Coaches Poll. Behind a sweep of No. 15 Virginia Tech, the Blue Devils (29-3) leapfrogged three programs for their highest-ever ranking in the NFCA’s national poll.
The Sooners (34-1) took care of business by sweeping RV Kansas on the road and extending their win streak to 16 games, the longest active streak in Division I.
Duke, along with OU, LSU, Washington and Missouri, were the only programs in the top 15 that enjoyed unblemished weeks. The Blue Devils outscored the 15th-ranked Hokies, 25-12, which included a 14-5 game-one win. Duke handed VT its first three Atlantic Coast Conference defeats of 2024 and it also marked the first series sweep of the Hokies.
The two programs Duke leapfrogged were No. 3 Georgia and No. 4 Texas. The Bulldogs (29-5) won at Kennesaw State and split the first two contests against then-No. 20 Arkansas, while the Longhorns (29-5) were shut out twice by then-No. 8 Oklahoma State. UT was held scoreless for the first time this season as it dropped the series to the Cowgirls (29-6), picking up one win in game two of the series.
LSU made its way back up one spot with a four-win week, including a three-game sweep of then-No. 11 Texas A&M.
Tennessee dipped to No. 6, while Oklahoma State improved to No. 7. No. 8 Stanford, No. 9 Washington and No. 10 Florida round out the top 10.
Missouri returned to No. 11 after a 4-0 East Coast swing, while UCLA keeps inching up the poll, moving into the No. 12 hole after winning both contests against No. 24 Oregon.
No. 16 Mississippi State, No. 18 Florida State, No. 19 Arkansas and No. 22 Boston University improved their rankings in this week’s poll.
