LOUISVILLE, Ky. – No. 1 Texas extended its winning streak to 13 games as the top five teams remained the same in this week’s USA Today/NFCA Division I Top 25 Coaches Poll.
With four more triumphs, the top-ranked Longhorns (42-6) continue as No. 1 for the third straight week and have not dropped a contest since game one against Oklahoma on April 5. Following a pair of 2-1 victories over the Sooners, the Longhorns have averaged 8.4 runs over their last 11 games.
The remaining top five – No. 2 Oklahoma, No. 3 Tennessee, No. 4 Oklahoma State and No. 5 Duke – each won their respective conference series and posted a 12-1 overall mark.
Just one week after entering the top 10, UCLA and Texas A&M continued to rise inside it to No. 7 and 8, respectively. The Bruins (30-10) reached the 30-win plateau following a 3-1 week that included a Pac-12 series win over then-No. 19 Arizona, while the Aggies (39-9) picked up a pair of non-conference wins against Houston and Sam Houston State.
LSU had the biggest drop this week, plummeting four spots to No. 10 after salvaging its only win of the week in its finale at home versus then No. 15 Arkansas. The Tigers (36-13) fell to then No. 25 Louisiana on the road before dropping the first two to the Razorbacks (34-13).
Outside the top 10, Florida State and the previously-mentioned Ragin’ Cajuns (38-14) made the biggest moves of the week, elevating four spots each to No. 12 and 21, respectively.
The Seminoles (40-10) come in at No. 12 as their win streak was extended to 13 games after a 4-0 week in which run-rule wins at then No. 12 Florida and two over North Carolina. Louisiana knocked off in-state non-conference foes, then-No. 6 LSU and McNeese before sweeping ULM in Sun Belt action.
Going in the opposite direction were No. 14 Georgia, No. 16 Virginia Tech and No. 24 Kentucky, who each dipped three spots after dropping their conference series.
