LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Three new programs joined the rankings this week as UT Tyler still holds the No. 1 spot in this week’s NFCA/GoRout Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll. Making their ranking debuts are No. 22 Barry, No. 23 Tusculum and No. 25 Concordia University Irvine.
The Patriots (23-2) rebounded from a two-loss week, sweeping Lone Star Conference doubleheaders from Eastern and Western New Mexico, respectively. UT Tyler recorded three shutouts last week and outscored its two opponents, 34-3.
As a result of then-No. 2 Auburn Montgomery being swept by Gulf South Conference foe Mississippi College, Tampa moved into the No. 2 position, while the Warhawks (15-6) dipped to No. 5. The Spartans (21-1) recorded three shutouts as they swept a pair of non-conference doubleheaders from West Liberty and Adelphi to extend their winning streak to 17 games.
West Texas A&M leapfrogged Angelo State as both teams moved into the No. 3 and 4 spots. The Lady Buffs (24-2) swept a pair of LSC twinbills from Texas A&M-Kingsville and TAMUI on the road. The Rambelles (22-4) dropped one game to St. Mary’s as they went 3-1 in LSC action.
Rogers State (17-4) remained at No. 6, while Francis Marion elevated to No. 7. The seventh-ranked Patriots (20-2) have won 16 straight. Augustana, North Georgia and Central Oklahoma make up the final three spots of the top 10.
Of the aforementioned newcomers, Barry (22-8) is ranked for the first time in nearly 10 years (4/5/15) and Tusculum (25-1) is in the top 25 for the first time in program history. The Pioneers lead NCAA Division II with their 25 wins and are off to their best overall and home starts (12-0) in program history. CUI (20-3), a regularly-ranked program, is back in the fold after a short hiatus (May 7, 2024).
Falling out of the rankings were No. 11 Wilmington (6-10), No. 23 Lincoln Memorial (17-8) and No. 25 Nova Southeastern (21-8).
