LOUISVILLE, Ky. – While West Texas A&M continued as the unanimous No. 1, there was movement below the Lady Buffs in this week’s 2024 NFCA Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll.
WT collected a pair of Lone Star Conference (LSC) series sweeps of St. Edward’s and Texas A&M International. With those six victories, the Lady Buffs were one of five NCAA Division II programs to reach the 40-win mark last week. Also included in the 40-win club are No. 4 North Georgia (41-7), No. 7 Colorado Christian (41-4), No. 9 Pittsburg State (42-4) and No. 10 Wingate (41-6).
Eleven of the top 13 teams went unblemished, but with two top-five teams, North Georgia and Rogers State, slipping up, allowed for shuffling amongst the top eight. The Nighthawks, despite reaching 40 wins, dipped to No. 4 following a 3-2 week which saw them split with new-No. 25 UAH and go 2-1 in Peach Belt Conference action versus Georgia College.
Central Oklahoma came out on top of an MIAA doubleheader with then-No. 4 Rogers State, sweeping the Hillcats (36-8) and moving up to No. 6, while Rogers State fell into the Bronchos’ (37-7) previous ranking of No. 8. With four wins last week, UCO has won 30 of its last 31 contests.
No. 2 Tampa, No. 3 Indianapolis and No. 5 UT Tyler took advantage of the slip ups, moving into their new rankings. The Spartans (35-6) have won 23 of their last 25, while the Greyhounds (38-3) have collected 29 wins over their last 30 matchups. The Patriots are currently riding a 10-game win streak.
In addition to UT Tyler, Colorado Christian (20 games), Pitt State (10 games / 32 of last 34), Wingate (21 game), No. 11 Western Washington (17 games) and Mississippi College (10 games) are current ranked teams enjoying double-digit win streaks.
Joining the rankings this week are No. 24 Francis Marion and No. 25 UAH. The Patriots (37-10) are ranked for the first time since March 13, 2013, while the Chargers (33-12) are returning since dropping out in Week 2.
