LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Saint Leo heads into the 2026 postseason as the unanimous No. 1 in the final NFCA/GoRout Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll of the regular season.
The Lions (44-3-1) closed out with a conference series win at Eckerd as they ran away with the Sunshine State Conference title by eight games with a 29-1 record. The Tritons handed Saint Leo its only conference defeat in game two of the series, snapping a program-record 38-game win streak. The Lions will be the top overall seed in the South Region when the NCAA Division II Regionals open on Thursday, May 14.
Of the remaining top 10 programs - No. 2 UIndy (Midwest), No. 3 North Georgia (Southeast), No. 4 Cal State San Marcos (West) and No. 7 Colorado Christian (South Central) all earned their region’s top overall seed.
The third-ranked NightHawks (45-8) and fifth-ranked Lions (48-7) each completed the conference doubles as well as extending their winning streaks to a Division II-best 12 games.
North Georgia won its 13th Peach Belt Conference tournament, sweeping through the competition – Flagler, Lander and Columbus State - over three games. Missouri Southern also posted a 3-0 mark, knocking off Washburn, host Emporia State and Rogers State to claim the program’s sixth Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association tournament title, the first since 2001.
Despite being upended by fifth-seeded and eventual Great Lakes Valley Conference tournament champions Rockhurst twice, UIndy held on to the No. 2 spot. The Greyhounds (56-5) did go 3-2 in the tournament during which they hit 56 wins, the second most in program history (54 in 2013).
Fourth-ranked San Marcos (50-8) and seventh-ranked CCU (53-5), were both defeated in their conference tournament title games. San Marcos fell to new-No. 13 Cal State East Bay, while CCU was upended by CSU Pueblo.
No. 6 West Texas A&M (47-7), which was the Lone Star Conference’s top seed, fell in the semifinals to Texas A&M University-Kingsville and will be the South Central’s No. 2 overall seed.
No. 8 Francis Marion, No. 9 Southern Arkansas and No. 10 AUM round out the top 10. The Patriots (44-11), who won both the Conference Carolinas’ regular season and tournament titles and have been idle since April 26, are the Southeast Region’s No. 2 seed. The Muleriders (46-7) won the Great American Conference tournament, which included shutout wins over Henderson State and No. 1 seed Arkansas Tech. The Warhawks (42-11) went 1-2 as the Gulf South Conference Tournament’s three seed.
Other top-25 programs collecting conference tournament crowns were No. 13 Cal State East Bay, No. 18 (tie) Concordia, No. 20 Shippensburg and No. 24 West Alabama. It was the first-ever title for the 13th-ranked Pioneers (41-15). The 18th-ranked Golden Eagles completed their PacWest double by knocking off the host and No. 2 Biola in a winner-take-all contest. The 21st-ranked Raiders (38-16) went a perfect 4-0 to win their fifth Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference tournament.
Ranked for the first time this season, the 23rd-ranked Tigers (43-12-1) went unblemished over four games to earn the Gulf South Conference tournament championship, their first since 1997.
The NCAA Division II Championship opens on Thursday, May 14 at 16 regional sites and concludes in Chattanooga, Tenn. when the final eight programs face off May 28 through June 3 at Frost Stadium.
The final poll will be revealed on June 9.
The 2026 NFCA/GoRout Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll is voted on by the NFCA Division II Top 25 Poll Committee. The committee consists of 16 NCAA Division II head coaches with two representing each of the NCAA’s eight regions. The poll is announced every Tuesday at noon ET during the regular season. Records reflect games played through May 10.
