LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Following a run to a Lone Star Conference Tournament crown, West Texas A&M reasserted its position as the No. 1 team in this week’s 2024 NFCA Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll. One week after the Lady Buffs (48-6) were dethroned, they knocked off No. 3 UT Tyler to earn its sixth tourney crown.

This is the final poll of the NCAA Division II regular season. The final poll will be revealed on Tuesday, May 28 following the conclusion of the 2024 NCAA Division II National Championship.

WT and the previously-mentioned Patriots (48-8) are the top two South Central Region programs heading into NCAA Regionals and will each host a four-team pod. No. 2 Indianapolis (53-4), which ascended to No. 1 last week, suffered an upset at the hands of Missouri S&T in the Great Lakes Valley Conference championship game. Despite having their 24-game win streak snapped, the Greyhounds are the No. 1 ranked team in the Midwest Region.

No. 4 Mississippi College and No. 5 Pittsburg State are No. 1 seeds in the South and Central Regions. The Choctaws (45-7) and Gorillas (51-6) both were runners-up in their respective Gulf South and MIAA tournaments with Pitt State entering regionals as one of only two (UIndy) 50-win teams across all three NCAA Division.

The final five teams – No. 6 Tampa (3rd-South), No. 7 Wingate (No. 1 Southeast), No. 8 North Georgia (No. 2 Southeast), No. 9 Charleston (No. 3 Atlantic) and No. 10 Rogers State (No. 2 Central) - in the top 10 range from No. 1 to No. 3 in their respective NCAA regions.

The sixth-ranked Spartans (41-9) won their second straight Sunshine Conference regular-season title with a 2-1 series win over Saint Leo. Eighth-ranked UNG fell in the Peach Belt Championship series to Columbus State. Top-10 newcomers Charleston (45-4) and Rogers State (43-10) each put forth undefeated runs to claim their conference tournament championships.

Ranked teams that also collected league tournament titles were No. 13 Western Washington (GNAC), No. 15 Auburn Montgomery (Gulf South), No. 17 Wilmington (CACC), No. 18 Concordia (PacWest), No. 19 Francis Marion (Conference Carolinas) and No. 22 Lenoir-Rhyne (SAC).

Nova Southeastern (37-12) returned to the rankings at No. 24, while Grand Valley State dropped out.

The 2024 NCAA Division II Softball Regionals begin on Thursday, May 9 and conclude Saturday, May 11 with winners having a tight turnaround for Super Regionals, held May 14-15 at the higher seed. The Division II National Championship will be contested over a seven-day period at the 2024 NCAA DII Spring Festival, May 19-25 at Boombah-Soldiers Creek Park in Orlando, Fla.

The 2024 NFCA Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll is voted on by the NFCA Division II Top 25 Poll Committee.
