Set Up: The offensive team always has a batter up with a runner on third base. The defense has a full infield (if short-handed, the shortstop can be eliminated and a coach can pitch).

divided into two teams and the one that scores the most runs wins. The offense has two lines; one line to bat (bunt) and another line to run at third base. They may use the safety squeeze, suicide squeeze, push bunt or drag bunt. Swing- ing away is not allowed.

The batter runs the ball out, and, whether safe or out, immediately goes to the line of runners at third base. Runners rotate to the hitting line every time the batters rotate over to the running line.

Coaches can pitch and insist that the corners cover the bunts (except “come-backers” to the pitcher). The second baseman must be alert to sneaking behind the runner at third. Coaches or par- ents serve as umpires.

The game usually lasts two or three innings and simultaneously develops offensive and defensive skills while players get to enjoy playing a “game.”
