Purpose:
This is a great game to use at the end of practice or the day before a game. As the players become more familiar with the game, they develop more defensive and offensive strategies. It requires good batting and fielding skills and promotes competitiveness and enthusiasm.
Explanation:
Divide team into offense and defense. All defensive players must play in the outfield on the grass. The defensive team must get three flies to become the offensive team.
The coach tosses a ball to each offensive player. To score a run, a fly ball must hit the grass. If the ball is hit on the ground and fielded cleanly, it is one grounder. If the ball is not fielded cleanly, then it is a run for the offense. Three grounders equal one fly. If the ball does not get out of the infield, it is one fly. When the defensive team gets three flies, it becomes the offensive team and bats. Play as many innings as time permits.
