LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Arizona State’s Samantha Swan and Florida’s Keagan Rothrock were named Division I Louisville Slugger/NFCA Player and Wilson/NFCA Pitcher of the Week for contests played April 6-12.
Rothrock picked up two wins and twirled her third career no-hitter helping the Gators to a three-game Southeastern Conference sweep at South Carolina. In the series opener, Rothrock fanned nine and worked around five walks to collect her first SEC and seven-inning no-hitter. In her other start, Rothrock went 5.2 innings, allowing a run on four hits with six punchouts.
Swan batted .900 (9-for-10), homered three times, drove in 10 runs and reached base safely in all but one plate appearance over four games last week. She also recorded a pair of doubles, scored five time, slugged 2.000 and recorded a .909 on-base percentage. Swan became just the second player to register a multi-homer game against UCF’s Isabella Vega. She also recorded her first grand slam and a career-best six RBI in a win over UTEP.
The awards are voted on by the NFCA Division I Top 25 Poll Committee, which features one member coach from each of the NCAA’s 31 conferences.
