LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Capital’s Lexie Leggett and Pfeiffer’s Kali Morton claimed the latest 2023 Division III Louisville Slugger/NFCA Player and Wilson/NFCA Pitcher of the Week honors on Tuesday.

Leggett, a senior left fielder from Chardon, Ohio, collected 17 hits, 13 RBI, 12 runs, seven home runs, four walks, two doubles and just one strikeout in 32 at-bats this week alone. For the season, Leggett ranks first in NCAA Division III in homers per game (0.53) and slugging percentage (1.143) and is in the top 10 in total homers. She has hit half (12) of her 24 career homers this season, and is just two from tying Devin Boggs’ single-season school record of 14 in 2013.

Morton, meanwhile, kept the No. 19 Falcons soaring with two wins and a save. The junior from Mooresville, N.C., pitched a complete-game four-hitter (four strikeouts) in the nightcap of a doubleheader sweep of Meredith, after fanning three in one inning of relief to pick up the save in game one. She also struck out seven in a four-hit shutout of Methodist to extend her streak of consecutive innings without allowing an earned run to 48.
