LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The College of New Jersey’s Alanna Namit and Pfeiffer University’s Vada Blue Sherrill captured this week’s Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division III National Pitcher and Player of the Week honors, respectively.

For Sherrill, it is her second Player of the Week award over the first three weeks of the season, while Namit is a first-time honoree.

Freshman right-hander Namit pitched back-to-back no-hitters last week. In a 9-0, five-inning victory over Wheaton (Mass.), the Governor Livingston High graduate walked two, but recorded all 15 outs via strikeout. She followed that by fanning seven in a 9-0 win over Trinity (Conn.). For the season, Namit is 3-0 with an 1.27 earned-run average, five hits allowed and 37 strikeouts over 22 innings in the circle.

Junior shortstop Sherrill, meanwhile, hit .467 (14-for-30) for the (18-2) Falcons. The Hiddenite, N.C., product had six homers — including two grand slams — a double, triple, 10 stolen bases, 14 runs scored and 19 RBI. In the 16 games since winning her first Player of the Week honor, the 2014 Gatorade North Carolina Player of the Year has hit 10 homers and collected 35 RBI.
