LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced the student-athletes chosen for this season’s quartet of NFCA NWAC major end-of-the-season awards.
Columbia Basin College’s Lauryn Krick was voted the NFCA Player of the Year and Lower Columbia College’s Zoey Hughes was selected Pitcher of the Year. Hughes’ batterymate Brooklyn Loose earned Diamond Catcher of the Year honors and Mt Hood Community College’s Serena Hattori collected the New Balance Golden Shoe award. All four earned NFCA NWAC All-America honors.
Hughes and Loose keyed Lower Columbia to a 2025 NWAC Tournament title and the first undefeated season in NWAC history (48-0). Hughes posted a league-low 1.65 ERA and ranked fifth with 16 wins and 133 strikeouts, fanning 10.42 per game. She appeared in 22 games, making 14 starts with 12 complete games, five shutouts (tops in the NWAC) and an .184 batting average against. Loose batted .480 with 18 home runs, 64 RBI and 73 runs scored. She slugged .947 and reached base at a .548 clip. Additionally, Loose was NWAC’s Rawlings Gold Glove recipient, posting .997 fielding percentage throwing out seven of nine base runners attempting to steal (.778).
Krick was a dual threat for the Hawks winning the NWAC’s offensive triple crown with a .552 batting average, 27 home runs and 89 RBI and coming up just shy of the pitching triple crown with a league-best 23 wins and 219 strikeouts, while finishing fifth with a 2.20 ERA. The Joan Joyce Utility/Pitcher recipient finished 2025 with a 23-4 record, 18 complete games, four shutouts and a 1.21 WHIP, while holding the opposition to a .215 batting average. At the plate, Krick was also tops with a 1.315 slugging percentage and 1.846 OPS to go along with a second-best on-base percentage at .631. She added 18 doubles and 79 runs scored.
Hattori led the NWAC with 46 stolen bases and was caught just once all season. She swiped four bases against Blue Mountain and Centralia and stole three in contests versus Walla Walla CC, Chemeketa and Clark. Hattori slashed .482/.525/.726 with 79 hits, 18 doubles, 84 runs scored and 51 RBI. She also earned the Rawlings Gold Glove in left field recording 61 putouts, four assists and one error for a .985 field percentage.
